I've been considering creating a male and female pairing both survivors of the Trojan war. I got to thinking about the entire story line of Helen and Paris and how it could be applied to a human woman who was subjected into marriage as per her duty to family and country but finds her Carpathian life-mate after having said her vows.
Helen the human female in my version is a tragic character caught in the cross fire of a jealous angry human king bent on keeping all his positions, human and otherwise, and Paris the young Carpathian male who lulls her into a false sense of security whisking her away to his home and family.
Then onto my favorite character, Paris's sister Cassandra of Troy the great prophetess who unfortunately due to her youth and feminine charm, no one takes seriously. I thought of how angry the young Carpathian woman would be upon learning that her people would reach total annihilation due to her brother and Helen's pairing. And I thought on her unheard cries of anguish for salvation, how she might turn to Helen and scream "You will be the downfall of my people!" I considered just how bitter Cassandra would become at being denied a voice and going unheard and finally her misguided hatred against love due to the ultimate destruction of her people and future enslavement which she feels powerless to stop.
Then I thought on about what her lifemate would be like, the challenges this man would have to overcome in order to win her trust. Was he one of the soldiers responsible for the destruction of Troy? Perhaps a friend of king who holds her as a pet and reward to obedient soldiers?
Anyway I thought it was kind of a fun spin so that's what I've been toying with in my thoughts lately! Any thoughts/ Input?
